A terrific remixer and artist in his own right, Morgan Page, makes his new remix album available as a FREE download for a limited time only. Just sign up for his mailing list and you’ll be sent a download link via email.
The remix album CEASE AND DESIST features his stunning remix of “Angels” by Wax Poetic (featuring Norah Jones) closing out the album. It was this remix that initially drew my attention to him a couple of years ago. The track listing for the album is as follows:
1. Esthero - “We Are In Need of a Music Revolution” (Intro edit) 0:23
2. Coldplay - “White Shadows” (Morgan Page Bootleg Remix) 8:24
3. Tegan & Sara - “Walking With a Ghost” (Morgan Page Bootleg Remix) 6:53
4. Imogen Heap - “Hide & Seek” (Morgan Page Bootleg Remix) 6:04
5. Sam Phillips - “If I Could Write” (Morgan Page Bootleg Remix) 5:15
6. The Kills - “Good Ones” (Morgan Page Bootleg Remix) 6:13
7. Hiperboreal - “Tijuana For Dummies” (Morgan Page Bootleg Remix) 5:35
8. David Bowie - “New Killer Star” (Morgan Page Bootleg Remix) 4:59
9. Antone Dvorak - “Symphony ..9″ (Morgan Page Remix) 6:23
10. Wax Poetic feat. Norah Jones - “Angels” (Morgan Page Remix) 6:54
Morgan’s talents are also on display at epitonic.com which features the single “All I Need”.

Two albums worth of FREE MP3s are posted here at Positively Dark’s site. I don’t know much about them other than they are extremely generous… and talented. I’ve only listened to the first album, XIIC, but find it very atmospheric and pleasing. I’d say it’s a cross between ATB and Enigma with maybe some Chicane thrown in for good measure. While it purports to be “techno”, there’s too much power guitar to technically be techno. The best of the bunch (off XIIC) is “Mermaid”.
If you trust my taste and liked my previous pick, Emorej, then you’ll like what you hear from Postively Dark.

Legendary Smiths’ guitarist has a new album out entitled BOOMSLANG. There are two FREE MP3s available at their official site under the audio/video section. “Bangin’ On” has a bit of a country/twang influence and then once the vocals kick in, you know you’re dealing with veteran British rockers.
[I was not able to get the downloads to work, but maybe that was just me and my browser. Let me know if it works for you, ’cause I’d also like to hear the second single, “Down On The Corner”. I did however find an alternate download source for “Bangin’ On” here at iMusic.com. And since Johnny Marr’s site also has an iMusic logo on it, I’m pretty sure they are either hosting or sponsoring the downloads with the artist’s consent.]
UPDATE:
Okay, my bad! I should have checked the release information. BOOMSLANG is three years old at this point. Thanks to Laura for pointing that out.

Whaddaya think: yea or nay on adding album art to posts where appropriate? I think it helps break-up the monotony of the text only posts. How about you?

God, has it really been 26 days since my last post??!
I have not forsaken you, my little chickadees. In my defense, all I can say is: Have you ever needed a break from your responsibilities? Even those responsibilities that you love and are self-imposed? I did. I kept logging in to create posts and never published them. BUT… I have been collecting fine FREE and LEGAL music to post here once I returned from my voluntary hiatus. All I can say is it would behoove you to subscribe to my RSS feed so that you’ll be alerted immediately when MOPGTMFM gets updated.
And, in the spirit of the holiday, I’d like to say that I am especially thankful for all the Guide’s readers out there who email me, post comments and let me know I’m not operating in a vacuum.
So, without further ado:

Morcheeba’s always been a band that’s hit or miss with me. 2000’s FRAGMENTS OF FREEDOM was the last time I gave them any attention. And while they’ve continued to grow and change and progress musically, that “pop” sound seemed to elude them… until now. This summer’s release, THE ANTIDOTE, has what their bio describes as Morcheeba “[flaunting] a late sixties/early seventies influenced” sound. And it can be heard in full-force on “Lighten Up”. It’s shiny happy pop.
Cold weather be damned! Download a FREE ray of sunshine here: Morcheeba at Download.com Music
Consider purchasing THE ANTIDOTE for another stellar track “Wonders Never Cease”.
