Michelob UltraMix.com

Create and download unlimited FREE work-out mixes at Michelob UltraMix. MP3s are not only free to download but free of DRM, too.

It’s too hard to spotlight any one track as they’re “mixing it up” and adding more MP3s every week (allegedly) thereby ensuring a different mix each time you visit (also allegedly). The type of music Ultramix chooses for you depends on your selections for “height, activity and intensity.” I found the majority of the selections to be rock and indie-rock oriented on my visits, with a smattering of hip-hop and rap; dance/electro tracks seem woefully underrepresented. As always, my tastes may not be yours, so you’ll need to spend some time in there finding tracks you won’t mind listening to repeatedly.

Their generosity runs out on September 5th so get a move-on to get your groove on!

Beatport.com: Prototype Mix 03

Download a FREE 10-track mix from Bad Boy Bill over at Beatport. The Patrick Alavi track, “1992 (J&S mix)“, is the highlight here. Painless registration is required. [The download includes several other files needed if you want to play the mix with Beatport’s exclusive Traktor player; otherwise, the MP3s play absolutely fine as single tracks in any MP3 player.]

PROTOTYPE MIX 03 been up on the front page for a bit, so be sure to hurry on over and download before it’s gone!

XXX

Speaking of sexy (today’s A&F post), I had the distinct pleasure to come across this over at Comfort Stand: WAKKA CHIKKA WAKKA CHIKKA: PORN MUSIC FOR THE MASSES VOL. 1. Now, being more of a purist, I might have entitled these selections as BOW CHIKKA BOW BOW in the heat of the moment, but whatever you call it, it’s a damn fine release. And, like the best things in life… it’s FREE! (NSFW, though.)

A few of the tracks verge on the lounge-y/silly side with, um, “vocal” excerpts but the first selection, “Take Me Now!” is very accessible and listenable; I think “Take Me Now!” best sums-up thematically the sound the producers of the compilation where trying to go for. But more to the point, you just gotta love any album with song titles like “Suck My Disc” and “Half An Hour Is For Free”. Go grab yourself… a copy of PORN MUSIC FOR THE MASSES!

The album is also available for download at the Internet Archive.

Abercrombie & Fitch: Music

UPDATE: Apologies. I had the page links mixed up. It’s fixed now and reads as I intended.

The arbiters of sepia-toned sexy/cool have a rotating selection of FREE MP3s for your enjoyment that can be found at Abercrombie & Fitch: Music. The stand-out track of this month’s five being “Digital Lover” by 33hz, imho.

But did you know there’s also a second, buried page of MP3s? That page can be found here. I find these selections to be very indie-centric and not all that interesting, in sharp contrast to the Euro-centric playlists that blare inside their stores. [FYI: You can find out what songs are featured in A&F’s monthly in-store playlists by joining this Yahoo! Group: AbercrombieStoreMusic.]

RINGSIDE >> Tired of Being Sorry (Deep Influence mix)

Get an absolutely smokin’ club remix of “Tired of Being Sorry” by Ringside for FREE under their downloads section. This superb (almost) 11-minute mix is dark and sinister… just the way I like my club music. Be the envy of your gay friends when they ask, “Where did you find this?!”

AMANDA GHOST >> Girls Like You

Get Amanda’s new song “Girls Like You” emailed to you for FREE. Just go to her official site and read the simple directions (which consists of sending an email and including your zip code).

I’ve been a big fan of Amanda Ghost for quite some time. Her debut album, GHOST STORIES was a major label release and boasts excellent cuts like Idol, Filthy Mind and the wistful Silver Lining (which always brings a tear to ol’ Molly’s eye). She also did a guest vocalist stint on two amazing Dark Globe tracks: “Break My World” and “Feed“… Sadly, I couldn’t find any of them available for purchase or download at the major sites.

9.13.05 UPDATE
Hazzah! GHOST STORIES was added to the iTMS as of today. Use the links above to be taken directly there!

CRANES singles

16 FREE singles at the Cranes Audio page for you to download.

On first listen, the Cranes strike me as a cross between Cocteau Twins and a Cardigans/Six Pence None The Richer-type of band. Their ethereal but accessible sound would fit in perfectly on a UK chill-out compilation. Having just delved into their oeuvre, I can already proclaim that I’m a fan of “Vanishing Point” and the “Driving In The Sun” remix.

ANNIE remixes

Arjan at arjanwrites.com scoops the rest again by offering a link to Scumfrog’s brand new remix of Annie’s “Heartbeat“. Arjan also has a direct link to The Drunkard’s Bubble Pop mix of “Chewing Gum“. (I don’t happen to care for this remix, but, hey, you might!)

But wait! There’s even more Annie to be had… FREELY:
• Exclusive Y£$ remix of “Always Too Late” can be found at Annie’s Official Web Site.

• The album version of “Heartbeat” can be found on several legit sites:
- on Amazon.com’s Music Downloads section
- the left sidebar of Salon ’s Audiofile homepage (it’s wrongly referred to as “My Heartbeat” here and all over the net)
- at Insound’s MP3 section via this link.

OR
• Stream her entire album , ANNIEMAL, here. Link found via keithers.com.

BAUMER >> Take What’s Mine

Terrific new electro-rock track from Baumer available for download over at purevolume.com. Look for their new album next month. “Take What’s Mine” starts off a bit like “Edge of Seventeen” but before you know it, male vocals take over and send you in a completely different direction. Check it out!

There’s another song, “How The West Was 1“, posted on the band’s website danceforbaumer.com for you to download, too.

TREEWAVE >> May Banners & Sleep

Two free tracks off Treewave’s CABANA EP can be had here.

I just love the way “May Banners” starts out, all glitchy and cut-up. It gets even more hypnotic with the (almost) 70s-inspired background chimes (for lack of a better word) around the 1:40 mark. Damn! I wish I knew my 1970s music better! I want to say it sounds a little like E.L.O. in the background, but I know that’s not correct… It’ll come to me in time. If you happen to hear what I hear, please leave a comment.
