Here’s the sitch: I’m moving and won’t be able to post for a week or so until my new broadband equipment arrives. Total bummer, I know. I thought I’d be able to post in advance like I did last week, but I simply ran out of time. But fear not! I’ll be back in a blink of an eye with more new, FREE music every day. That’s a Molly O’ Promise that’s as good as gold. Look for new posts in 7 to 10 days. Also, be sure to subscribe to my feed so you’ll know when I’m back at it.
If you haven’t already, now would be a good time to delve out the sidebar links and see what treasures await you!

Some interesting stuff over at the R9 Records page for Junobot. The four tracks available for FREE download are at lower-quality 96kbps but that doesn’t necessarily diminish their quality as the band’s sound is primarily tinny and electro.
UPDATE:
Nate from Junobot emailed me to let me know that the MP3s have been replaced by better quality 128kbps ones.

The Earstroke netlabel has several experimental electronica releases for you to download, all for FREE. Molly O’s pick of the bunch would be Wisp two albums, IN A BLUE FACE and FUNGUS FLAP. Wisp offers up several instrumental gems like “Many Fields“, “On Rails and” and “Turqouis Tinged Pennies“. His second EP has a darker, more gothic tone, demonstrated effectively in the first track “Lavender Spore“.
I hate to categorize Wisp as generic B-movie electronica, but it has that feel; It strikes me that one could have heard this music before at the end credits of some cable channel sci-fi movie-of-the-week.

Unleash your inner Mario Bros. Bit Shifter offers up four FREE Nintendo-electro tracks at their site. Using classic videogame sounds/music to make new music is all the rage these days and this is some of the best sounding I’ve encountered. Check out “March of the Nucleotides” as a prime example of the genre.

the UK’s LED has three FREE singles up at the “disastromart” available for download. I’m partial to the remix of “Ginko Disco” for reasons obvious after a listen.

David Starfire and Laird manage to pull off a tricky maneuver. A breakbeat gem that lets its middle-eastern influence sparkle without overwhelming its electronica roots. Check out David’s other offerings on the same page. [The Music page can be accessed by clicking on the headphones on his homepage.]

Very rarely, one stumbles upon greatness. Sure, I listen to all kinds of music, free or otherwise. But this, dear readers, is a true find. A fantastic release that hits all the right notes… Neo-funk meets House. It’s immediately accessible, polished and refined, with sound I just absolutely dig. Before you click anywhere else, go download it! Cuebism at Netlabel iDEOLOGY
In short,
Pros: Amazing. Gorgeous album artwork. And FREE!
Cons: With only 5 tracks, it’s way too short. Left me wanting more.
Two stellar Cuebism tracks are featured in the sidebar player, “Run Quick” and “Get ‘Em“. I highly suggest you heed these directives!
Linkage found via the excellent Free Albums Galore blog. My ego almost prevented me from mentioning that he managed to find the WAKKA CHIKKA… album at the Internet Archive weeks before I found it at Comfort Music. Imagine what the two of us could do if we joined forces!

The Beasties are releasing FREE a capella MP3s from their catalog for you to play around with. They can be found at BeastieBoys.com. They’ll be adding more every week, so be sure to check back if this kinda thing is your thing.

MP3s from the last week’s posts are finally in the player.

Some genuine electro goodness can be found at this amazing FREE MP3 site, smart-music.net. [Unfortunately, the link doesn’t take you right to the bands/MP3s. Just scroll down to find them — they’re both on the first page.]
SOLVENT >> “Wish“
MYSTERYMEN >> “Waiting“
These two tracks were mainstays on my iTunes playlist for months. Both bands managed to capture the essence of the 1980s for me, but in a completely ageless manner. These two fine cuts aren’t dated but are best swallowed with a dose of nostalgia. And possibly a Bartles & James wine cooler.
Lest I be accused of shameless stealing others “finds”, fellow free music site 3hive also just re-featured Solvent and got to it before me. (Adding insult to injury, Arjan also beat me to the punch by posting a link to Hard-Fi’s “Cash Machine”, a track which was featured on Fluxblog at the end of July and I’ve been enjoying ever since.) Boy, it just doesn’t pay to horde good material!

MO’PGTMFM reader Aaron tipped me off to Robbers On High Street who have made 3 distinctly great MP3s available for FREE at their site. He’s right, “Spanish Teeth” has it in spades! This genre isn’t my forte (but I know what I like when I hear it) so I’m not sure what comparisons are appropriate but I’d go out on a limb and say that if you like Badly Drawn Boy, you’ll probably like ROHS. What would you say, Aaron? How would you classify them??

Gallons of free remixes and a rather extensive discography with some fantastic CD artwork is available at the home site of remixers freezepop under their Music section.
Poor old Molly hasn’t gotten a chance to listen to more than a few of them, what with the impending move and all, but I’ll be sure to spotlight my favorites real soon and add them to the music playlist!

Download an hour+ mix set from the Greenskeepers highlighting their work. The FREE MP3 can be found at their official site in the Downloads section.
I was curious to know a little more about the Greenskeepers after hearing their fantastic job on ‘THE INCREDIBLES’ REMIX EP (“Is That Incredible“). This is where the “(Mostly) Free” part of MO’PGTMFM comes into play; the Greenskeepers’ remix is not free – but all 3 remix tracks from the EP can be had for only 99¢ at the iTMS. Such a deal!

Loads of remixes, demos and an entire unreleased album’s worth of MP3s in the Downloads section of The Beloved, part of the early-to-mid nineties Manchester scene.
Of note, be sure to check out the Johnny $ remix of “Deliver Me” (Yes, the same song made in/famous by diva Sarah Brightman) and the Dubfire’s Paradise Club mix of “Three Steps“.

Three FREE tracks of distinction I thought I should point you to:
ANDY MAC >> “Stars“ : Could be perfectly paired with the previously mentioned Koushik track, “Be With”.
CAPSIZE >> “Dissatisfaction Guaranteed (Cistran’s Mix)“ : What I imagine ABBA might be doing if they were still around. Once the vocals come in, you can hear the influence.
GROOVE ARMADA >> “M 2 Many“ : An groovy older track (circa 2001) that somehow I missed. You’ll dig the funky “yes-indeedy”.

One of my favorite remixers, and artist in his own right, has made two hour+ FREE MP3 mix sets of his own material available for download at his site, JacobLondon.com. He’s terrifically talented and can be counted on to deliver quality goods.

I joined the fray with a post over here at Entertainment Weekly’s Popwatch.
